I usually reduce the pic I'm about to upload by a quarter or a third of its size. DA sizes it down further when you've uploaded it tho'

numbers woman! like res #, or height in inch/pix. My pics are hand draw and can range from 2-3 inches to maybe 11. 3rd or a quater of a size is kind of moot when you size is sporatic.

How is it moot when my own sizes are sporadic? I've got some where the smallest dimension is 300-some pixels, and I've worked at up to 1200 pixels. =P Except for oekaki, I reduce from the original size by a quarter or a third mostly to smooth out colors and reduce the overal filesize so that people don't wait forever to download.
